(First time listen review of the Album)

TAKE NOTE OF WORD IN FULL CAPITAL LETTERS THAT’S WHATS UP!

I listened to the album through dark hours (no distractions) more than 10 times straight up no skipping nor playlist swap. Black House can Rap BUT are they really MAD? Am not sure! This is 2018 music has rapidly progressed; The Culture has evolved creativity is what distinct one project from another. Apparently, the project is dope, lyricism top notch I love the instrumentation and progression game on point. (Credits to Concept man, Shugabeats ,  Shambee and DJ coublon ) BUT  I think there is something missing; the album lacks depth, replay value and diversity from the onset one could feel the youthful exuberant  (women, drugs and alcohol ) at some point or most points the album lacks positive  cultural influence tho it could only boast of I DON’T TRUST THE SYSTEM IDTTS ( social problems highlighted ) which leads to the argument that MAD can not be generally accepted the standards is International HIP HOP which is far away from the Nigerian culture and the project sounds more personal than one for the rest kind of album. It also lacks radio value hence, low shelve life.

TRACK BY TRACK ANALYSIS:

    1. NEVER KNOW (Guest artiste PHIL CHASE): Its never been about the money, women and drugs its being about passion” proclaimed KHRIS FLAMES quiet different from what we know, BLACKHOUSE  are infamous with vulgar lyricism but they  go personal on this. Let me borrow a line from BLACO SAM “the mind is JESUS but the face never shows it” perfectly explains this song. I don’t know if is right to call this track another PHIL CHASE feature or just a no features song? I mean this project should have been renamed to BLACKHOUSE & PHIL CHASE MAD ALBUM, The emcee has been rampant on the project. To me this is his poorest delivery on the project and an unnecessary feature because he struggled with the slow tempo of the instrumentals probably he isn’t comfortable with non- trappy beats. I NEVER KNOW!

 2. BLESSED (Guest artiste STESH): Arguably the biggest song on the project, little wonder why it is the Lead singles for the MAD album. Stesh came through hard as he sings about gaining momma’s blessing, This particular song will go down history as one of  BLACKHOUSE best song. From instrumentation to Lyricism and delivery top notch!

           7. IDTTS I DON’T TRUST THE SYSTEM: My pick of the album ; The only song that laid much emphasis on social issues such as Poor education, insecurity and poor governmental policies making the country biggest producers of poor people in the world. CMAN once again prove his vocal prowess with a question short Hooke to end the track with high level of uncertainty. CAN’T GET ENOUGH!

4. WAR  (Guest artiste PHIL CHASE): Trending Singles dropped few days before the album was released online, this is the track that introduced PHIL CHASE to the game, no one knew him he just pop out from WAR  up till date no official singles or song attached to his name before this track dropped. Kudus to BLACKHOUSE for blessing us with PHIL CHASE, this song is great and will stand the test of time, instrumentation, lyricism, delivery and message top notch, I can play this anywhere anytime in the world beat my chest  because it is proudly from BEEHIVE

5. PAYD: Radio friendly, feel good jam; the duo bemoans challenges leading to inability to stack money despite talents and family supports. Sweet but short track!

6. DIFFERENCE: Another trap jam another PHIL CHASE verse with arguable BLACKHOUSE best fit on 808s , PHIL CHASE won the battle surely a star was born on this project!  Flows and delivery on point!  ALL I WANNA DO IS DAPPPP!

9. OPTIONS: Every ones favorite! No much word just play and listen.

10. MANGO (Guest artiste CALYX DAVID): If you’ve heard CALYX DAVID “DANCE feat. KHRIS FLAMES” you could understand the chemistry between MANGO & DANCE. “It is a birthday song” KHRIS FLAMES sings; whereas on DANCE Calyx talks about his experience with his crush at BLINX birthday. I don’t really like this particular song but is OK because it is one of the few tracks that is generally disticting on the album; Feel good and radio friendly song! Probably the only girls pick on the album.

11.ARTKIN (Guest artiste BOC MADAKI):   The only track that was produced by ace beat maker,  Shugabeatz  to the project addressing industry related issues and the stand of rappers in the industry diluted with POP SOUNDS which gave birth to YRSFUYL a year ago,  the mainstream industry witness rappers  singing amist fight for the throne intensifying. BOC came through dope as usual but Wasn't as spectacular as the soundtrack. 

12. BODY LANGUAGE: Smooth instrumentation, story line about a lady they met at a bar that loves to turn up for no reason beyond catching fun. I love the progression and the hooke, its catchy and addictive “I just wanna pray in your temple Lords knows” Cant get enough of this JAM!

13. LOCK & LOAD: DJ Coublon free beats murdered efficiently. Never saw this coming owing to the fact that the song was released last year. It turns out to be one of the unconscious singles off the album. “Mental slavery kills faster than Guns evil rapped BLACO SAM” Self esteem and positive thinking preached on this song. Lyricism was proven once again on this song.

14. DOE NUTS (Guest artiste CMAN): Love music featuring the concept man CMAN, story line about Ex Girlfriend you can’t let go, FLAMES had the first verse laying the floor for BLINX to blend in fashionable before CMAN’s angelic soothing voice blessed up the HOOKE. What a classic Poetic Justice! The longest track of the project, am scared it may bore other listeners but as for me I can’t get enough of this!

15. WANT YOU TO KNOW | DOWNLOAD MP3

16. CHANGE: (Guest artiste PHIL CHASE): Trap infused track alongside the eccentric new comer PHIL CHASE; Positive thinking is the mood when playing this jam, Life is what you make real men don’t change, PHIL came through strongly but couldn’t match the duo earlier effort on the track. Another DOPE JAM!

17. PRAY FOR ME: Trappy and wavy jam which can easily ride you outta your adversity, the duo went hard on this. Probably this jam will go head to head with WAR & BLESSED for the album favorite track!
