Tanzanian police arrested famous singer, Naseeb Abdul Juma, better known as Diamond Platinumz for posting indecent photographs on social media.
Harrison Mwakyembe, the country’s information minister told parliament on Tuesday that the singer portrayed an act of indecency by posting such photographs.
Since Monday, images have circulated on social networks showing the 28-year-old singer, shirtless and in bed with a female companion.
“Among our artists, there are some who are starting to spread indecency on social media,” Mwakyembe said.
“I inform you that yesterday we were able to arrest the great musician Diamond Platinumz, he is being questioned by the police about indecent photos he circulated,” the minister said.
“Social media is not a garbage dump of sorts. Our country has a culture,” he said, adding the musician would be brought to justice.

Tanzania's top music star Diamond Platnumz was only held briefly by authorities over what they allege were "obscene" videos he allegedly posted on social media, news agency Reuters reports.
The 28-year-old singer whose birth name is Nassib Abdul was arrested on Monday.
Another artist, 26-year-old Faustina Charles who is popularly known as Nandy, was also released after being detained.
She was also accused of "indecency" for a video that was shared on WhatsApp.
A government minister has said that the two musicians are likely to face criminal charges.
